As the title says, i'm curious what do you all think about it? What is taking Google/Youtube so long to do anything about it? Especially since they're pretty big content creators

I think YouTube believed that this was more about internal politics between the GSM Arena people rather than a genuine "hack". That's probably why they didn't take action sooner. This isn't a typical "hack" where the creator losses access to their entire channel (meaning they can't post, delete, or manage their videos). GSM Arena still had control over the channel. They could still post new content and choose whether to monetize videos, they just weren't getting the ad revenue. So I can understand how from Google's perspective, they believed that given GSM Arena still had full control over the channel, this issue was more of an internal scuffle. And thus YouTube doesn't want to intervene in any way. If they got involved with any internal politics within GSM Arena, it could put them in a really awkward position.

So given the circumstances since doing any sort of verification online is rather tough, I think YouTube reacted appropriately in this situation. It's just unfortunate the layout of the whole channel is weird given they had an alias account with high privileges that no one was actively monitoring. That could've contributed to the confusion as well.
