JVM on M1 chip

Did anyone try to compare Java compilation time on MacBook Pro Intel vs MacBook Pro M1? I am doing Java development and this is an interesting question for me since Intel's performance mostly stalled during last fix years.

I've seen a smattering of tests, but not much that's particularly thorough. Although it's rather convenient that you mention six years, since the test I just linked includes a 2014 MacBook Pro. Suffice it to say M1-based Macs blow that system away.

Thanks for response. I actually have 8 core MacBook Pro i9 2019, which is somewhat better than 2014 model. So it seems that 8 core M1 is on par or a little better than my MacBook Pro. I'll wait for a new MacBook Pro ARM to see the difference.

In that case you're good holding off. The M1's performance is impressive when a MacBook Air can rival the performance of a much more expensive Pro model, but you wouldn't get much out of switching right now. You should see a much more tangible upgrade from the "M1x" (or whatever it's called) in the next large MacBook Pro.
