QLC NVME SSD for games library

JaZoN_XD

Hey everyone, trying to decide if QLC is a smart choice for games library.

I know that QLC is extremely slow when it comes to very large files since once it fills up the SLC cache, writing to the QLC directly becomes extremely slow, even slower than an HDD in some cases. However, is that the process when you download and install games? For example, games are like 50 - 60 GB nowadays, but is that equivalent to trying to transfer a single 50 - 60 GB file?

Thanks!

BRRRT!

Yes.

But even a QLC drive will write way faster than any internet connection you might have, so no point getting anything faster for just that. Updating games might take a minute or 2 more...

Depends on what type of QLC, some might also be better than others.

Samsung and brands like that often have their versions, from the cheaper ones that can get slower to a bit faster ones in higher price.

They can be fine, TLC can be a bit more expensive and if just for storage of games it should do fine.
