Asrock b550 tw??

I own a pre build pc since this march and wanted to upgrade my cpu to a ryzen 9. And apparently my motherboard is a b550 tw? I cannot find any information about this motherboard anywhere...

 

Does somebody know if this motherboard can handle a ryzen 9 generation?
Or where can I find more information about my motherboard so I can start working on it.

well the generations are 3000, 5000, etc.

 

B550 motherboards are compatible with Ryzen 9 3900X at the very least, since your motherboard model is not quite known then I can't say for sure whether you could updater and get a 5900X

 

as for the actual usage, what's the CPU for? And does your motherboard have a decent VRM so that the CPU can get enough power? You wouldn't want to buy an expensive CPU and have the clock speeds dropping.

Ryzen 3/5/7/9 are the "tiers" of CPU they offer in the Ryzen lineup, not the generation. AMD is currently on the Ryzen 5000 generation (R9 being 5900x and 5950x) which 500 series chipsets support, supposedly without the need for an AGESA update.

The upgrade will be for mostly gaming only.

 

Can I find the VRM by entering the bios, Since I cannot find any information on the internet?

I own a ryzen 7 3700x now.

Just a picture, it's a surface component after all. I could give a spot check for if I think it's decent or not, or I might just recognize the model and tell you where it stands on the motherboard tier list on our forum.

I don't recommend getting a 12 core CPU for gaming, you won't be able to tell the difference.

 

If you reach out to ASRock you might be able to ask if this motherboard has a BIOS that supports 5000 series ryzen, a 5800X would be a better option.
