Hello everyone,

I just finished my third pc build. But sadly when I turned it on, I heard a pretty loud bang and then it didn’t turn on again.. I have trouble shooted with another psu, after changing the psu, the pc turned on but no boot screen. also with an other cpu, this time I heard one beep but no boot..

i even tried an other gpu but no boot at all (but in a different pc it did work). I have also put the cpu in an other pc and then that one also wouldn’t boot.. (I also tested the ram in other pc where it worked)

Does someone know what possibly is the issue and what could have caused it? :/

Thanks a lot in advance

Sounds like a capacitor blew. I'd check over each capacitor on the motherboard first to see if you can find any that have blown. If so, log it for an RMA with Gigabyte.

Other option is the PSU. Shine a light in through the fan and mesh/grills to see if you can see any blown capacitors in the PSU. If so, do the same and log an RMA.

It's possible both the PSU and motherboard went at once.

Thanks for the reply, I can’t see any blown or damaged capacitors.. If the psu and the motherboard are both fried, what do you think could have caused it? I did everything exactly like the manual and many yt video’s said.. :(

I somewhat doubt you did something wrong, I think you likely got unlucky, unless you've got a US spec PSU set to 110v and you've plugged it into a 240v socket or something.

It's basically impossible to break it in the way you're describing by doing something wrong, as you can't physically plug things in to the wrong place without really forcing things as all the connectors are keyed.

If you can't determine which is faulty, I'd advise RMAing both the PSU and motherboard. I wouldn't advise testing the PSU with any other components as if it caused the motherboard to break, you don't want it doing the same to anything else.

Just take a look through the grille of the power supply (Do NOT open it under any circumstance). If you see a cap blown in there and it is still within warranty period, RMA it.
