First Time Building A PC - Help Appreciated!

Budget (including currency): Min: $1000. Max: $2000.

Country: USA ( West Coast ).

Games, programs or workloads: World of Warcraft, Among Us, FTB modded Minecraft.
Nothing super extensive but use Xbox Game Pass Ultimate so that could change.
                                                        Discord for voice chat.
                                                        Streaming Netflix/Hulu/Amazon Prime Video.

Other details: No existing parts lists.
Peripherals: Possibly a monitor upgrade from the Lenovo I currently use.
What you're upgrading from: Currently playing on a 15" Surface Book 2 which is having GPU issues.
When you're going to buy: Late Winter/Spring 2021
What resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc: Better than a potato - smooth enough but no need to be top of the market.

This is going to be my first build. I have folks who are going to help me put it all together but I am so lost at where to start! This is a whole new language to me so any ideas/pointers would be rad. Thanks!

i dont rely on pcpartpicker prices that much, before you make a list like this, try to find a deal and just squeeze more power, but this build is fine for what he demands
