Steam game randomly uninstalled

So one of my games on steam just says install but when I go into explorer it has a path and is 8GB when redownloading it needs 13GB is my drive dying or what is wrong? also does installing to same path mess anything up?

You should use Crystaldiskinfo or similar tool to check your drive's health. These kinds of issues very often are the result of bad sectors causing corrupted files.

Running a full surface-check wouldn't hurt, though I don't have any tools to recommend for that since I'm used to doing all such low-level stuff under Linux.

No, Steam should check what files there are and only actually download any files that are missing/corrupted, even if it at first claims that it has to download everything. Even if it did have to redownload everything, it shouldn't "mess anything up."

Steam also leaves tons of junk after you uninstall things.  If you have installed and uninstalled a game a few times just delete everything steam leaves behind and see that you drive is full of space.

I checked with people in the game discord and they experienced it too and it reinstalled pretty fast so no problem I guess
