AryI have G49 Odyssey been playing everything using the hdmi cable supplied all has been fine I had to go up to the attic to get Christmas stuff for the misses. (pain lol) I seen the box of the monitor so I said frig it I'll get the DP cable outta the box cause I always seen linas using dp cables and he's says there better.So I've hooked it up fired up a game all on same ultra settings I never changed anything and jesus it's bad grainy/glitchy/teary picture. Have I done something wrong is it a bad cable at this rate I'm giving up on it any help would be greatful thanks in advance.

If it works fine with HDMI either your display port cable is dead or the monitor display port is dead. Buy a new cable and see if not the port is dead.

Yes. 

 

throw it away dp sucks, doesn't even have a license... they only put it in cause it's royalty free, otherwise there would be no "dp".
