if you got pwm fans you can hook em to the cpu fan header and there ramp up based on cpu temp. if there still to fast you can buy an lower power adaptor that will drop the 12v down. there are other ways of wiring then to a switch and switch from 5v,7v,12v also

Have you tried with Asus FanXpert? Its pretty much same as with BIOS. You can setup curves, and IIRC select which temp sensor to use.
