Since this has become such a popular case to build in and many threads are mentioning the case I thought it would be nice to have a thread with all tips, mods, builds and such that are involving Bitfenix Prodigy.

To start off the thread; What can I do to increase airflow to the Graphics card? I have the ASUS GTX 660ti w/ DCUII. (no outside of the case ghetto mods and I'm too poor for watercooling)

Possibly put a fan on the grill that is on the side panel going straight to the graphics card?

Or maybe opening the side panel up when you are putting the card on load?

If you are using an SSD or you don't mind using a 2.5 inch HHD, take out the Hard Drive cage and attach an 200/230mm Bit Fenix Spectre pro fan in front. :) then 2 120mm fans at the top.

If your are not over clocking your card you won't need too much incidental airflow anyway as the Direct CU II Top edition cards perform better in terms of cooling when temps get higher.

Another idea is if you are using a tower type cooler for your CPU, you could try to mount the thing so it could blow air towards your cards if the mounting mechanism allow.

My last, and probably worse, idea is to ghetto mount an 80 or 120mm fan in front of the card. :)

Pretty good ideas Ps_domingo

I'm using a Corsair H70 in the back of the case which blocks the fan in the backside of the case.

The ghetto mount of a fan on the side panel could be a last resort although I think I'd need one of those slim fans, haven't checked but I think so.

I've actually ghetto modded an Arctic Cooling F12 120mm on to the intake fan in the front so the lower screws are attached to the top screw holes of the bottom fan due to the fact that the AC F12 is loud as fuck as an intake fan.

f you have an additional 3pin port you could try mounting and going crazy with the Antec spot cool. :) The pro or con of the thing is that it may ruin your theme if you are going for the red and black theme with blue LEDs. :|

Any tips on getting maximal airflow in the case?

Right now I have 2 Bitfenix 120mm intake in the front, 1 Arctic Cooling F12 exhaust on my corsair H70 in the back and one NZXT 120mm fan in the top front slot.

@Jaybird: Where did you route the front audio cable? I found it to be a bit short as I can't lie my side panel flat on the desk with the cable connected.

I got a replacement front I/O since there were some problems with USB 2.0 devices, but I used the old cable (because I was just too lazy to take out my graphics card). Maybe the new cable is longer. It will probably have to wait till the next upgrade, or never.

  • 1 month later...

There was a bit of a high pitch wind noise coming from my graphics card, so I decided to close the panel and bought a window side panel.

At the same time I ordered a 230 Bitfenix Spectre fan for the front intake and a 140 Spectre for the rear exhaust. I also have two Corsair SP 120 QEs at the top, as an intake, on pull configuration for my H100i.

I got rid of the high pitch wind noise from my graphics card, but got some new noise from the 230 at the front. Fortunately it's not high pitched, it's just "normal" wind noise, but it still somewhat bothers me, especially when compared to my previous case - Antec P182.

Those that claim that they're not showing off are drowning in denial!
