Upgrade because of bottleneck? (whole system?)

Budget (including currency): ~2000€

Country: Austria

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Games like: AC Valhalla, Red Dead 2, Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order, Cyberpunk 2077, etc., Programs: Photoshop, CaptureOne, Ansys, Comsol, Matlab; but the focus/question is on the gaming part

Other details

current setup:

- monitor: ASUS ROG Swift PG348Q (100Hz, 3440x1440, 34'')

- PC:

GPU: 2x Gigabyte Windforce Gaming OC 1080TI SLI

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 2700x - stock cooler (AMD Wraith Prism)

Motherboard: Gigabyte X470 Aorus Gaming 7 WIFI

RAM: G.Skill Trident Z RGB 4x8GB 3200MHz CL14 GTZRX

Main Storage: Samsung 970 EVO M.2 NVMe 1TB

Storage: Samsung 860 QVO 4TB

PSU: be quiet! Dark Power Pro 11 850W 80 Plus Platinum

Case: be quiet! Dark Base Pro 900 Rev. 2

Case Fans: Front: 3xNoctua NF-A14 PWM 140mm (in), Top: 3xNoctua NF-A14 PWM 140mm (out), Back: 1xNoctua NF-A14 PWM 140mm (out), Bottom: 1xNoctua NF-A12 PWM 120mm (in)

I want to fully use the capability of my monitor - so all games in 3440x1400 and always highest settings (Raytracing not yet due to 1080ti..). In Valhalla around 30-47FPS also Red Dead 2 with DX12 (screen flickers with Vulkan)

My GPU (if SLI possible GPUs) runs often very hot (~78-90°C) (usage 95-98%) - newest Nvidia drivers allways installed.

Also sometimes my screen freezes in AC Odyssey, Origins and Valhalla. Screen is stuck in last frame and nothing works, only forced shutdown...

My CPU stay kinda cool (<60°C) with a low usage. - runs around 3800MHz - 4000MHz

Should i upgrade my CPU and MB? or GPU? or both? Or any other recommendation?

My budget is also flexible, but i don't think that a 5950X and a RTX 3090 is needed.. or am I wrong?

Thank you in advance for helping with advice.

You guys make a very awsome job. A lot of people, including myself appreciate what you guys are doing with feeding us information and recommendation; also here in Austria :)

Best regards,

Christian

I would only recommend that you upgrade your GPU to a single 3080, everything else still looks dandy

CPU should still be fine since you're playing at 1440p UW on ultra, it's heavier on GPU than CPU

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

SLI might be causing an issue in some games, could try running without it first off

The GPU is hot because that case has no real airflow

Just grab a 3080 or 6800XT depending on pricing/availability

Although all you have to really do to get your fps up is drop down your shadow/reflection or AA settings, depending on the game of course

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?
