Will a Ryzen 3700x or 3800x sufficient for a 3070? Or should I wait for the 5800x to be restocked?

I am trying to plan out a build, but I am honestly getting impatient with the current cpu stock.

I would try a r5 5600x. It would be worth it, especially for 1080p, meybe even 1440p would see better perf. But the 5600x is about 10900k erf, the 3700x is much slower.

I could use some help with this!

please, pm me if you would like to contribute to my gpu bios database (includes overclocking bios, stock bios, and upgrades to gpus via modding)

It's enough, you don't really need 5800 to play games, probably 5600.

But since you have the money already, go wait for the 5800/5600.

If you in the rush go buy 3600 instead, sell it when you get the 5th gen.

then 5th gen 5000/zen 3 is going to offer much better frame rates.

Get the Zen 3/Ryzen 5000. Probably the 5600x if you're not doing much work with the PC. At 4k it almost doesn't matter at all what CPU you use as long as it's decent, and at 1440p the difference is minor. However, 1080p is much more CPU bound and a better gaming CPU goes a long way.
