kinda stupid requirements ... if you want some plot, some story, there's gonna be some drama or some love story/romance/love triangle etc

good scif-fi movies..

Arrival Predestination, Gattaca, Chronicle ... Interstellar you probably saw.  Lots of other good sci-fi movies out there.

Series ...

sci-fi

starts a bit weak (first few episodes) but it gets really good :  Fringe : https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1119644/

Person of Interest - also gets quite good a few episodes in, worth viewing : https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1839578/

Sanctuary ... with all kinds of supernatural creatures, a world inside earth, cool stuff : https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0965394/

Warehouse 13 ... cool series,  funny, quirky, worth watching : https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1132290/

in the same spirit (same universe) Eureka : https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0796264/

Haven : -  https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1519931/  - I'd put it above eureka, but it's polarizing, it starts a bit slow so some may not stick with it. I did and enjoyed it, story develops as you watch the series

Limitless -  https://www.imdb.com/title/tt4422836/ -  based on the movie (guy takes some drugs which make him super smart), in this series he works for cops and helps them - with the chick that was Dexter's sister as cop. Full of jokes, doesn't take itself super serious, enjoyed watching it.

Travelershttps://www.imdb.com/title/tt5651844/ - not so well known series from Netflix but I quite liked it... people are transported back in time to change some events in order to change the future...

Continuum -  https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1954347/ - also deals with time travel but a bit different, was a series made on low budget but decent, and had decent plot .. first couple episodes are a bit cringe but it's ok afterwards.

Salvation - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6170874/ - more recent series, some student discovers a huge meteorite will hit Earth and cause apocalypse, so teams up with some Elon Musk type of guy and US government to make something to destroy the object before it hits earth.  Kinda lame ending for the series and they dumb down the student as the series advances but eh, worth watching

= oldies but goldies =

Dark Angel  - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0204993/ - series with Jessica Alba and the guy from NCIS when he was younger. Worth watching if you were too young to see this series on TV.  Post apocalyptic US with genetically modified children...

Roswellhttps://www.imdb.com/title/tt0201391/ - the original is great, the remake is decent worth watching

Dollhousehttps://www.imdb.com/title/tt1135300/ - two good seasons, worth watching.. about a company which can store minds of people and erase them and program personalities in people

Dead like mehttps://www.imdb.com/title/tt0348913/  -  different, interesting, funny , I liked it  made by same guy that did other great series like "Pushing Daisies" or Hannibal or American Gods and less known but decent "Wonderfalls".  The series is quite good, worth watching.  The standalone movie made after series ended is crap.

- supernatural and comics stuff -

Teen Wolf - yeah the MTV series, first season is cringe as hell, and with awful music soundtrack, but it really gets good from Season 2. Season 3 is excellent, I honestly was surprising MTV could come up with such good episodes.

Cloak and Daggerhttps://www.imdb.com/title/tt5614844/ - I actually liked it, inspired by some comics but different enough, two good seasons, enjoyed the soundtrack as well

Bitten  - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2365946/ -  made from some popular books, has werewolves and witches in it, it's ok. With supergirl actress from Smallville as werewolf.

Being Human (US) - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1595680/ -  vampire, werewolf and a ghost girl live together, lots of things happen... Remade from a UK series, which is a bit different but also good (but UK viewers have different tastes, may not be for everyone)

Van Helsing - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5197820/  -  ok series with vampires and a couple girls that are some hybrid human-vampire

There's probably some other series like Peaky Blinders or more recent series but I didn't get to them yet, so can't really recommend them.

non sci- fi

Fargo first season was awesome

Lie to Me was a good series ,  Life (2007) was also great.

The Closer -  https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0458253/ - "murder of the day" type of show, cops solve murders etc, very good, especially good main actress.  Continues with "Major Crimes"  which is with same actors but a bit more action, more shootings etc

Six Feet Under  i remember it was very good, i also liked iZombie  (with the actors from Veronica Mars which was another solid series) ,

Train to Busan - movie, Korean but very good

Blade Runner if you haven't seen it. It's a slow burn, but both it and it's sequel are pretty good. Takes place last year.

Ex Machina for an interesting take on the "Can AI be human" story. Some nudity though.

Ash Lad is some low budget Scandinavian film, a fantasy/comedy that's surprisingly good. It's free on YouTube.

I'd recommend comedies, but in my opinion there has been very few good modern comedies as the genre transitioned more to drinking and stoner jokes, so all my recommendations are from the 20's to the 90's. Most people haven't seen them.
