Intel vs AMD

Budget (including currency): max £400

Country: UK

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Beamng Drive, opening a buncha crap on google, trying to crash the computer with chrome tabs

Which is better performance wise?

Which is better value for money?

I wanna prove my friend wrong, even though amd might be cheaper, i still wanna prove him wrong....

Is this a fantasy build or are you looking to get two competing PCs built?

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

So do you actually want us to recommend a build, or are you just asking about the age old Intel vs AMD argument? AMD does in general offer better price to performance ratio for low to mid-range CPUs. AMD motherboards also offer a much better upgrade platform, so if you're starting out with a lower end CPU you'll be able to upgrade to something more powerful down the line and not worry as much about a full motherboard swap.

I mostly speak from my own past experience from similar problems. My solution may not work for you, but I'll always try my best to help as much as I can. If you want me to see your reply, make sure to quote my comment or mention me @WaggishOhio383, and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.

This also applies to high end cpu's now with the 5000 series. That is if you can find the cpu's at RRP.

Some people will say that Intel is better for gaming. While that still might somewhat be the case depending on the generation of ryzen cpu. I think it has gotten much closer now and the performance isn't that much of a notable difference. The intel boys are super loyal fan club though, and I do admire their enthusiasm for their brand. That is just for the CPUs. Right now though, it seems AMD is overpriced because alot of places are selling out of AMDs. I noticed a significant price increase since I looked 3 months ago. So to say that AMD is 'cheaper' is worth a grain of salt.

Right now I'd say AMD has the advantage due to the upgrade path they have provided with AM4. Not sure how long AM4 support will continue, some say 2020 it will end. We will see.

Not sure about AMD graphics cards vs Nvidia graphics cards. All ive ever had is Nvidia graphics cards.
