New motherboard, is it dead? [SOLVED]

Assaf Chamoy

Hey,

I bought a new platform on black friday from newegg:

I9 10850k,

Gigabyte z490 vision g,

32gb trident z royal 4000mhz,

Nzxt x73 AIO

Everything was fine yesterday when i finished the build, then after windows installation I realised some high temps on the cpu - 50-60 Idle, and 90-100 through cinebench test, which is wierd with cooler of that era..

Today's morning I started the pc and... went streight to BIOS without any beep sound, case fans wont work including the cpu fans and pump, my M.2 is not reconised as a bootable device, and my 2TB seagate HDD isnt recognised at all.

Note: I am using NZXT 710i case, with the built in fan controller which my cpu fans run through to get control with the nzxt cam app.

For the case fans i am using antec prizm with the included fan and rgb controller which i tested both on another pc and works fine. The leds are on  both case, fans and pump.. its just nothing is spinning.

also using EVGA GQ 1000w power supply and a GTX 1080TI

Tried downgrading bios versions, hard reset by cmos battery removal for half an hour and anything i could think of:

1. Checked each part on another pc.

2. Switched connectors.

3. Thermal paste is new.

4. Cpu mount 100% secured.

5. When i connect each fan to the mobo it is working, but when i try to connect them through the fan controllers they wont spin, but gets power I can see that because the leds on the antec works, and the Nzxt case leds works too.

I feel like it has somthing to do with the inner driver of each 3rd pary controller.. sounds reasonable?

What is going on? Is my mobo dead? Any kind of help would be appreciated.

First thing that comes to mind, did you apply thermal paste? Idle temps should not be that high unless there's bad contact or no thermal paste. Also try connecting the CPU fan to your board instead of your cases fan controller.

edit: if it's an AIO cooler, plug the pump into the board too.

Thanks for the rsponse!

The cooler came with built in thermal paste, cant beleive that is the problem..

When i connect the fans to the mobo cpu connector they works, but the pump still wont so the fans are useless..

Try remounting your CPU. That sounds like bad contact to me.

I reformat the m.2 once again and managed to install windows and boot successfully, without any cooler ...

Seems to work fine but I just powered it off because the temp was obviously high and I dont want to hurt my cpu

The pump is connected to the mb through the Opt_cpu fan connector

Somone?

thep ump should be connected to "aio pump" header and the fans to "cpu_fan" or "cpu_opt" header.

you have to have aio pump header in order pump to actually work.

Just read somehting you coudl try to use cpu_fan or cpu opt header or even tru 4 pin pwm fan headers.

I dont have a dedicated aio_pump on this board, heres what they says on the mobo manual:

I have had a EVGA 850W completely fail on me after just a week.. and it had issues with crashing games before it died.. I would first look at that PSU if it was working and suddenly has these issues.  Sadly EVGA has left a bad taste in my mouth.

EDIT:  My PC doesn't do anything when trying to power on by either the case or jump starting the board.. all it does now is make a buzzing noise faintly even when there's no PC power on (just the PSU on/off switch).  Shut your PC off for me and just turn the switch to PSU ON and tell me if you hear anything.

Dude you were partically correct.

Your comment ringed me a bell that long time ago i switched an eco mode switch on my psu. Switched it back to off - problem solved!!!

Thank you so much!
