HDMI supporting 144hz?

Downkey

So yesterday I ordered a new laptop (https://www.bestbuy.com/site/hp-pavilion-15-6-gaming-laptop-amd-ryzen-5-8gb-memory-nvidia-geforce-gtx-1650-256gb-ssd-shadow-black/6427566.p?skuId=6427566) And after doing a little research, I found out that it doesn’t have a Display Port. I use display port for this monitor, which is 144hz. (https://www.lg.com/us/monitors/lg-27gl650f-b-gaming-monitor/reviews)

I did some research and someone asked if you could run 120hz via HDMI, but what about 144hz? I looked on multiple retailers and LGS site and could find nothing. If I can’t run 144hz on HDMI could I buy A USB-C to DisplayPort adapter?

Thanks!

HDMI can support 144Hz, but it depends on 3 requirements: the source can output the required format, the cable is good enough to carry the signal, and the display can accept the required format.

USB to DP adapter may suck as it is in effect a new display adapter, not a new output for the onboard one.
