Does the deep mind stuff affect F@H?

I’ve been reading about this thing called deepmind that made some sort of breakthrough in predicting folding for some types of proteins.  Does this have an effect on F@H?  It’s apparently a Google owned thing which I assume is probably bad

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

It is essentially a competing algorithm, this will likely not affect how F@H works as it is based on fundamentally different principles (Deeplearning vs Rosetta Energy Minimization). It will definitely in the short term change the user distribution of users who rely on Rosetta vs Alphafold, and perhaps in the long term change the perceived value of F@H.

Our lab is far more excited about alpha fold than we have ever been excited about F@H, and look forward to trying it out for our research.
