be quiet! Straight Power 11 any good?

Icylobster

Like others that I've seen, I need to upgrade my PSU for the RTX 3080. I'm not sure which capacity, since larger means more efficiency (50% load) but more cost.

I currently have a Ryzen 7 1700 at 3.5GHz and an Evga G1 650w PSU. The rtx 3080 is ordered and I'm not sure if my current PSU is enough (charts seem to rank it as lower quality).I'm thinking of upgrading to a 3700 in the future, if the price drops more (may not matter).

Is the Be Quiet Straight Power 11 Platinum (750W) a good choice? It seems cheaper than a lot of the Seasonics and the nicer Corsairs. Is it worth going larger for piece of mind and efficiency? Also, will ratings vary a lot between the same PSUs if they are a different size than what was tested (Ex. test and rate 650w, but I buy 850w)?

If it helps, I live in the US.

Be Quiet Straight Power 11 is known to work well with the 3080, but you would be better off to get a 850W vers.

Also The Corsair RM 850 or RMX 850 are also great choices.

Thank you, I'll aim for 850w then. It looks like Corsair RM & RMx are cheaper (2018/2019) but gold rating and single rail. I doubt either of those are big deals. Split rail sounds good, however I'll admit my knowledge is very shallow.

I was reading that RMx is better. However are there any big reasons to pick one over the other (RM, RMx, or BQ!)? Be it features, reliability, or safety?

I'll read up on those three in the meantime.

Well, the RM and RMX are very solid high quality units.

If you want to go with EVGA, go with the P2 or G3.

I think I'm leaning Corsair now, they have 10 year warranty vs 5 years on the Be Quiet!.

I noticed RM states it has a "modern standby" mode that the two others don't. Should I take this into account?

I don't have brand loyalty to EVGA. I just want something good that won't cause any damage and that can last for years to come (future rebuild, overclocking, etc).

Thanks again for your help and guidance.

Doesn't really matter much, just means that's the newest model, the others just haven't been updated yet.
