Currently have a 1TB 970 PLUS and need a bit more storage for games. Which one would you recommend?

Just get the 970.

No reason to spend the extra $80 for the 980.

No one should be as irresponsible as me.

Guess depends how much bleeding edge you want your storage. Also if it's for more work stuff too that use it.
