Purpose of 16 Pin Header on Graphics Card?

possibly more voltage readout pins for things like this

I've been rewording google searches trying to figure out what the 16-pin header on the back of an MSI GTX 980Ti Lightning is for (no not the power headers.) I can't find anything useful on it. There are two 4-pin fan headers on the left and three voltage check points on the right. The header in question is the 2x8-Pin header in the middle.

Any insight on this would be much appreciated.

Awesome. Sounds like it may be useful at some point.

Thank you!
