Is it worth to overspend on a RTX 3070 or it would be better to buy another card?

Slazyel

Hi guys, i am in a bit of trouble choosing my next video card.

I already have built my computer but i am in trouble finding the gpu. I have an Odyssey G7 monitor so i will play at 1440p 240hz. But i dont know if it is worth to buy the 3070 right now or if i should buy a cheaper card and wait for the 3000 series to lower their prices and buy it later.

Currently, where i live, i have those options:

Sometimes, RTX 3080 appears for $890, but it is hard to get one.

[New] Gainward RTX 3070 Phoenix: $766

[Open Box] Evga RTX 2070 Super FTW3 Ultra Gaming: $462

[Open Box] Gigabyte RTX 2060 Super Windforce OC: $366

[Open Box] Gigabyte RX 5700 XT Gaming OC: $366

[New] EVGA RTX 2060 KO: $300

The 2 main ones i am thinking of buying are the 2070 super and the rtx 3070.

What do you guys think?

encouraging the scalpers is a no-no. do you need this PC right away, as soon as possible? if you can wait, then you should.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

I need a gpu for now, but it does not need to be the 3070

A used GTX 1070 for around $200 would be a good placeholder for some 1440p gaming.

$766 is a big one for 3070. probably better if you buy RX6800, that is if you can find one.

hold up till the price is stable.

if you have the money don't buy 20 series cards.

Although I don't encourage buying from scalpers, I have seen some evga 3070's over the last month on ebay for around $200 over msrp. Most sellers want double over msrp so maybe that's a deal if need a gpu and can't find one anywhere else for less?
