Hey folks, i will finish my last exam in 2 weeks from now and i ofc want to play games! I currently have no graphics card because i am waiting for Maxwell.

Now it,  doesn't look like MW will be announced/ released in the next while, so i can't buy a MW GPU after my exams, which means i can't game.

I thought about getting a cheap 2nd hand GPU to pass the time and have some gaming fun. I want something that delivers medium details, maybereaching into high, 30+ FPS, in modern games. My budget is 50€, not more, rather less, because i want to keep that card for the bad times, once i buy a maxwell, and i don't want to sacrifice that much of my Maxwell-money.

I thought about something between GTX 260 and GTX 560, performance wise?. But less € is allways appreciated.

Some optional features would be

-relativeley silent

-red/black

But ofc price/performance stand on top.

My PSU is a Seasonic G-Series 550, i am shopping from germany.

who cares...

650ti boost if you could find one somewhere.

750ti, r9 270, r7 260x

All of witch are above 50€

I can only think of a HD 6450 really quick. EDIT: I can see a r7 240 is around that price range too.

EDIT2: Those or go for a used card, i don't really know what to go for considering the price can be anything and your region is a mystery to me.

Spoiler

Case Bitfenix Ghost, Mobo Asus Maximus VIII Ranger, CPU i7 6700K @4.2 Ghz cooled by Arctic cooling Freezer i30, (barely). GPU Nvidia GTX 970 Gigabyte G1 @1519Mhz core, RAM 16Gb Crucial Ballistix CL16 @2400Mhz. If it isn't working absolutely perfectly, according to all your assumptions, it is broken.

Try and pickup a Radeon HD 7770. It's a solid card and will be able to play pretty much and game around mid-high settings. If you can't find any check out a 650TI or a 750TI. Or you could always try and find a cheap 460 or something like that which will do fine also :)

PS: If you get a 7770 you can put it in a old system later and have it mine whatever random coin you choose to pay itself off :P

My Current Build:

Intel i5 3570K @ 4.4GHz 1.11V, Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO, Asrock Z77 Extreme4, Corsair Vengeance 8GB 1600MHz, Samsung 840 EVO 250GB, Asus GTX 760 DCII Overclocked, Corsair CX600M

That is a 440, it has no additional power requirements so it runs straight off the motherboard and you can find this as a refurbished card.  I don't think this matters all that much because this will only be for pastime.  It will hit your money target if you go for a refurbished/re-certified card.

Now I have a question to the OP. You are buying pretty much a throwaway GPU so why do you need it to match your build's color?

Anyway HD 7770 is the best option, GTX 650(ti?), or you could just buy a high end GPU right now and you probably would not miss out on a lot on Maxwell.

Thanks all for the quick answers. HD 7770s and 650s and such are too expensive. I am even willing to get as old as a GTX 270. i just want playable medium(-high) details @30 FPS.

What performance can i expect with a 560/460/470 or similar in modern titles like Crysis 3, Titanfall, BF4, Far Cry 3 etc.? How does a GTX 270 compare to a 260? :D My brother has latter one and he get's low-medium in mordern titles. btw. i am gaming @1920x1200

Just if a certain card has those features would be nice. tbh i don't really care but if it's ther, why not?

looks like a good deal.

those are almost current gen cards. they're too expensive for me. I am really looking for a price/performance banger, which will also not have as much value loss, once newer cards release.

who cares...

I would get the 460 due to the 1GB of vRam over 896mb also I just went on the web page and it now shows this 0_o

"This offer was ended by the seller because the item was damaged or lost."

Why don't you just wait and get something like a 750 Ti?

A 750 Ti costs 130€ and in 2 months from now i won't be abled to sell it for more than 100€. the value loss over time is too big. Old cards are old, they don't loose that much value enymore, because they aren't worth shit. :D

I really think about getting a GTX 260. they're like 30€. :D

who cares...

Yepp. VRAM is also a problem. A 460 would be ideal but i am so cheap! :D do you think a GTX 260 would deliver playable framerates? dem 460s are looking good though.

 am shopping from germany.

Germany, Look for AMD cards, pick a price, cant go wrong.

You can find 250$ cards worth of performance at 120$.

and so one day I heard someone mad because his card didnt perform as much as he wnated ..it was a 200$ nvidia card. he tought it should work better then the 130$ AMD.

So keep an eye out.

-Watch benchmarks price/ performance for you erea and

-Use a price comparison tool for your erea to know where ot get cheapest

-Pick one once your satisfied.

dont quote me I dont do research for that erea.

CPU: Ryzen 5500 GPU: RX 6800 RAM: DDR4 3200MHZ 48GB (2x8+2x16 GB)  MOBO: MSI B450-A PRO Display: 4k120hz with freesync premium.
