Is the h410 and the i3 10100 a good CPU and motherboard combo

Go to solution Solved by Fasauceome,

A used B450 motherboard with a proper VRM heat sink and a cheap first gen Ryzen CPU could save you more money and it would offer a nice upgrade path to any Ryzen CPU.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

stop your ryzen bs, that i3 is cheaper than even 3100 and performs slightly better too. Upgrade path is only viable if he's looking to upgrade anytime soon and most people don't at this budget

Why are you hostile? He has a point.

Ryzen is an appealing option because of expandability, in case OP wants to upgrade from a Ryzen 5 1600 for example to a Ryzen 9 5950X in the future if he does go with B450.

I built a budget Ryzen 5 1600 PC back when I first building PCs at 17, now I have a 3700X doing just fine. Yes, Intel may offer more performance (depending on scenario) but AMD has superior upgradability options over Intel, since their platforms last 2 years at the most.

Plus how do we know if OP is just purely gaming? What if he is doing video editing and CAD work too?

RGB is very overrated.

I specifically said a used ryzen processor and a B450 motherboard. It's cost effective and viable for budget gaming.

If the Intel cpu+motherboard combo is under $150 then it's competitive but frankly I don't see that being the case here.

solid. Though, make sure the mobo has the I/O shield and blackplate, unless you have an aftermarket cooler with its own backplate and don't care about the I/O shield

  • 6 months later...

I had to make an account when I saw this bullshit.

Severe ryzen fanboys in the building.

Not only is h410m + 10100f cheaper than a used 1600/1600af/2600 + b450, but it also provides better gaming performance than even the 2600. Unless you are going to upgrade to 5600x in the next couple of years then it makes no sense to not get the cheaper and faster alternative. It all depends on the pricing in your country but the intel combo has been 160-180 dollars while a used 1600 + b450 tomahawk that would allow for an upgrade in the future starts at 195 dollars. For a 2600 that'd be 210. That's as big as 50 dollar gap and like I already said you are paying that much more money and getting LESS gaming performance. Not to mention that these 50 dollars that you saved could very well be added to your budget after you sell your CPU and mobo and you can once again do the same upgrade to 5600x except you would've had better performance in the time before the upgrade.
