Enough power?

I currently have a i3 9100f, rx 590 and 16gb of ram @ 2666mhz,, this is powered by a a EVGA 450BR psu. My question is would I need to upgrade my psu if i were to upgrade to a i5 9400f and a 1660ti/2060, and if an upgrade would be needed are there any suggestions you have to cheap reliable psu's that would fit these parts?

450w would be enough, but the evga br is a pretty low quality unit.

You'll probably be fine, the estimated wattage on pcpartpicker is around 330w. But that psu is only 80+ bronze. It'll probably work but if you can afford a better one that would be optimal.

450W is enough even with a GPU upgrade like a 1660Ti / 2060. The RX 590 is probably more power hungry to be honest. I have long been running a R7 1700 and RX 580 now a GTX 1080 with a 450W PSU. Under full load I do not pull more than 300W. So you will be fine.

 

That said the 450BR is not the greatest with regards to quality, I would still consider an upgrade to a better PSU.

Efficiency does not equal quality. You can buy tons of shitty 80+ Gold and Platinum PSU's.

I will for sure keep a lookout for any deals on Black Friday, and if there aren't any relatively good ones I will most likely end up buying this one, thanks for the help

No, but a PSU being 80+ Bronze is not indicative of it being low quality or requiring an upgrade, and it could be a quality unit despite its '80+' rating. So all I am is saying is that it is not a metric in which you should recommend a PSU upgrade on. 

 

This unit happens to not be very good with regards to quality, but that has nothing to do with it's Bronze rating.

 

If the PSU in question was a Corsair CX/CXm 450W I would say an upgrade is not required at all as the quality of the PSU is a lot better than the EVGA BR units, despite both being 80+ Bronze.

No problem! Just refer to that PSU Tier List, in truth just got for a Tier A option. There are relatively affordable options out there, and 550W is more than enough, even for future upgrades unless you get the itch for a really powerful GPU like a RTX 3070 / RX 6800 etc.

It's a reasonable PSU, not dangerously bad for your purposes even though it's not amazing.

 

If your upgrade plans involve more CPU cores in the future and maybe a higher end GPU you will definitely want to consider a better power supply

No problem! Just refer to that PSU Tier List, in truth just got for a Tier A option. There are relatively affordable options out there, and 550W is more than enough, even for future upgrades unless you get the itch for a really powerful GPU like a RTX 3070 / RX 6800 etc. 

I know it's been a day already, but I have a super noob question, and that is if I could pair a i7 9700f with a Corsair CX650M

edit: also im hoping to pair it with a 1080ti in a month or 2

CXm would not be the best of choices for a 1080Ti. 650W is enough though.

EVGA isn't a group regulated PSU as that article implies, it's some HEC's DC-DC platform.
