Cannot Restore Computer

Hello all! I started my morning with a nice solid color on my screen within minutes of start up. I've been trying to fix this all day and have come up with no results. I thought, why not restore my computer? So i went to the restore through the windows error screen, and whenever it finishes with the whole restore thing it says "System restore failed to extract C:/(Program files/Microsoft Help) or something along those lines. I would like to see if there is a fix to this that does not involve using a CD. (My DVD drive's nick name is "The Shredder" take a guess why.) All help would be welcome!

try start in safe mode and open command prompt as admin, type sfc /scannow and hit enter.  See how it goes.

You could make usb installer and use it instead of disc. I know there's some software related issue which system restore can't fix.

try letting it load successfully, even if it takes 20mins..

if you can get in, check the event logs. that should help you narrow down or identify the problem
