Cpu motherboard compatibility

Just wondering will the ryzen 5 2600 work on a asus strix b550 a, cause I've heard that the 500 series motherboard board don't support the 2000 series ryzen cpu but ive also seen people with the 500 series board and a 2000 series ryzen and they say it works perfectly fine so I'm very confused right now. I plan to but this motherboard for future proofing and upgradability.

then don't go second gen ryzen. 

 

just go x570. while some are gonna criticize me for this, i strongly suggest this. X570 has some benefits and 2nd gen is guaranteed to be compatible.

It is not compatible with B550

The Ryzen 5 2600 is compatible with: A320, B350, B450, X370, X470, X570
