5600X and 6800XT build - how you like it?

SHiFT

Budget (including currency): £2500 or so

Country: UK

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Well, AAA gaming, Cyberpunk, AC Valhalla, and whatever else :)

Other details

CPU: Ryzen 5600X

CPU Cooler: NZXT Kraken X63 280mm

Motherboard: MSI X570 MAG TOMAHAWK WIFI

GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6800XT - hopefully

RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO Black 16GB 3600Mhz

PSU: RM850X GOLD Modular

Storage: 2 x 1TB Corsair Force MP600

Case: Corsair 4000D Airflow Black w/ Tempered Glass

Any issues here? I think this should chew through 1440P for the next few years anyway.

EDIT: 2500 includes monitor, not seen here - will buy during Black Friday deals :)

EDIT 2: The price will include some fans and other minor things left out from here - but this is the heart and soul of the build.

In that case, go with 32gb of ram

I was thinking that - I assume the MSI board supports quad channel 4 x 8GB? 4 x 8 looks much nicer stacked than 2 x 16 :D

it's still dual channel operation, but yes, you can go for that

For gaming the 16GB will do for now I think. It's easy to replace RAM - but a motherboard is much more complicated and stuff. So I tend to think of it like that :)

I would go with an Arctic Liquid Freezer II over the NZXT. Even the 420mm version is cheaper than the X63, although it wouldn't fit in that case and it is overkill for a 5600X.

The 280mm version would save £40. Still overkill for a 5600X though.

I just love the display on the cooler - I was obsessed with the infinity mirror for a while now - appreciate the suggestion but the NZXT coolers are da bomb :P

Originally I was going to go for a 5800X - but it performs almost identical in games, so the money saved is put towards extra SSD storage, higher Mhz RAM and a beefier GPU really.

Do note that 2*16  kits don't have to be dual ranked. Going dual ranked give a pretty hefty performance increase but a 16 gig stick doesn't have to be dual ranked as there are various 16 bit ics.

What do you mean exactly sorry? I am not familiar with these terminologies.

I can get the same RAM kit in a 2 x 16 and 4 x 8GB version too. Would there be issues with the 4 x 8GB?

In short probably not.

Long answer

I was going to write this but did some wrong math and I have zero clue where I don goofed so TLDR no as you can't have half rank and even if you get 4 rank kit it should be fine.

Also i'm in school so sorry for replying this late.

Haha, that's OK.

If I was to get 32GB I'd do it in 4 x 8 sticks just, it looks shmexy compared to a 2 stick config. But as said, I can buy 2 x 8GB anytime if I need to and just slide it in.
