SSD C drive vs 1TB D drive help

win10 is on my C drive and is taking up too much room for me to put Steam on it. the SSD is 250GB and 1TB. the C drive is easier to use and nav. but i thought i needed room for the games to play better? thx guys

I now have Drive and C drive with the same files  like Program files and p files x86 and dont know which i should delete

Do you mean that Windows installed is installed on the 250GB SSD and you're running out of storage? If so, keep in mind that you can always move games between libraries in "Properties > Local Files > Move install folder...".

Secondary drives are not scary if properly organized.

Do not delete files from Program Files or Program Files (x86). Uninstall programs you do not need.

Are you saying that you put steam on Local Disk (C:) and you want to move it to your other drive? Is that what you're saying???

 

About organization, it's actually up to you. I mean steam is all in one folder, there's no way that you can't keep track of it.

INSTALL Steam on the Windows drive, but have your LIBRARY on the D drive.

 

It's in the Settings for Steam.  

 

The Steam program is pretty light, so it and Windows will be more than fine on a 250GB SSD.  It's your game library that is the issue.

I was just trying to move windows to free up space for games and such. Maybe my thoughts were in the right place but not worth it but know i have double the files lol smh 🤦‍♂️

God no, you can't copy and paste or "move" Windows between drives like that.  There are registry entries that need to be handled, for example.

 

Leave Windows on the C drive, install Steam on the C drive. Point Steam's library to the D drive.

 

Windows runs faster on the SSD, not the HDD.  Delete all the Windows files on the D drive.

 

Edit:  Your only option for faster data/games is to buy a large(r) SSD to be your D or E or F drive.  I have a 500GB boot drive for Windows and programs, and 2TB of SSD's for my data and games.  No more HDD.
