Looking for a monitor to replace my recently-deceased Asus PG278QR. There is the PG279Q, though that has higher input lag (4ms vs the 1ms on the PG278QR). I have also found the XG279Q, which seems good though i am unsure the difference between G-sync and G-sync compatible branding. I also have a relatively shallow desk and play with an angled keyboard, which the pronged stand of the XG279Q would interfere with, from what i can tell.

My old monitor, the PG278QR had the following specs:

- 165hz refresh rate

- 1ms response time

- 2560 x 1440p resolution

- G-sync (which i believe refers to the G-sync module being installed into the panel, whereas G-sync compatible is simply a compatibility with g-sync software without the module being installed?)

I do not want to downgrade on any of these fronts. *unless G-sync and G-sync Compatible are so close in the end-user function that there's no valuable difference.

While i'd love to simply buy a second PG278QR, which i absolutely adored, they do not make them anymore and i cannot find an unopened one for sale on ebay.

Any suggestions?

When Nvidia came out with this distinction my PG279Q went from G-Sync to G-Sync Compatible.

If you want to stick with ASUS look at their new TUF monitor.  VG27AQ

How would the VG27AQ compare to the XG279Q, besides the 5hz higher refresh rate on the XG279Q?
