You will be absolutely fine for another 3-5 years and longer no doubt about that. Your system could very well be absolutely fine and good for another 10 years. Depends on what you do with it.

What do u mean by it depends what I do with it?

as in.... it's is highly dependant.... on what you;re doing with the computer.

for example if your computer sits on a shelf and is never turned on it will last you at least the rest of your life.  or if you are rendering an entire pixar film in 8k then it would already need replacing.

Upgrading anything, depends on what you do with it. Nothings been mentioned on if you use it for personal pleasure games, what games or you use it for business purposes like rendering, video editing, folding.

Basic information thats been left out, so technically your pc will last 25 years easy with no upgrading of any kind required.

We'll you've not given us any information about what you use the computer for.

Light gaming? @Orange1 is right, that'll last you for a few more years.

Gaming in the latest games with ultra-realistic graphics - you might want to consider upgrading in the next year or so.

Microsoft Office and Facebook? You're not going to need to upgrade for at least another decade.

Also the best upgrades may not be the CPU, GPU or mobo. For example if your RAM is frequently getting full causing the system to hang or slow down then you might want to add in more RAM rather than investing in a faster CPU. Similarly if your system is booting slowly then replacing an HDD or slower SSD with a fast SSD might be a better bet.

Thanks for reading all this by the way!

By the way, my desktop is a docked laptop. Get over it, No seriously, I have an exterrnal monitor, keyboard, mouse, headset, ethernet and cooling fans all connected. Using it feels no different to a desktop, it works for several hours if the power goes out, and disconnecting just a few cables gives me something I can take on the go. There's enough power for all games I play and it even copes with basic (and some not-so-basic) video editing. Give it a go - you might just love it.

Or you require more cores and threads which depends on what you do.

All to common for newbies to generalize without specifying anything. But the more info we have the better we can help the OP out right @pythonmegapixel    :)

I want to play the latest games but it doesn't have to be in the highest graphics quality so should I be ok?

Sorry for not telling the rest of specs I didn't think of that lol. I have 2 8gb 3200mhz vengance lpx ram and a seawater barracuda 2tb hdd with a 500gb nvme ssd Samsung 860 evo. I plan on playing the latest games but don't mind running at lower than the highest quality settings but still want it to look good. I dont know if it matters too much but I also have a 144hz 1080p monitor
