Hello I just recently built my computer a while ago. I only have 1tb nvme in the computer. I’m a video editor and I play a view video games. I’m starting a drone videography business. I would like more than one internal hard drive. So I’m thinking of having my current 1tb nvme as software. Now I would like to have two more drives where one of them is video data, documents, etc. then the third one for archiving in case my computer failed (which I’m assuming hdd is perfect). I need help if I should get another nvme or sata ssd. I’m more of performance person. I would like reads and writing speeds quickly as possible. Also I don’t know how much storage I should get for the two drives. For my current 1tb nvme, It’s a little more than half way full. Please give me let me know what I should do.

thank you

Well. How'bout a couple of SATA SSD in RAID and maybe a couple of HDD in also RAID mode? Model and size would depend on your budget of course but how about something along the lines of...

Samsung 860 Pro 1 TB

Samsung 860 Pro 2 TB

Samsung 860 Evo 1 TB

Samsung 860 Evo 2 TB

Both models scale up to 4 TB.

Samsung 860 QVO 1TB, also scales up to 4TB but these types of drives slows down when their cache gets full so if you plan to move large files I recommend something of the above.

As for HDD maybe Seagate Barracuda?

nv.me is faster then ssd.

But again ssd is cheaper.

Your choice

nvme is an ssd, and it wont make much of a noticeable difference going from sata to nvme

Well lucky for you, I'm here to help (Sorry for sounding Obnoxious). If you're starting Drone Videography business, you need to satisfy customers. NVMe is the way to go, with DirectX12 Ultimate coming out you will be able to abuse the NVMe's high speeds. My recommendation is Samsung 980 pro, up 5000 write speed.

Though Sata will be better storage option, so it's up to you if you want to raid multiple Sata ssd's for massive storage.
