GPU upgrade tips // anything is helpful

So I have   "GTX 1060 6gb MSI Armor ocv1"
                               "Intel i5 8400"

And I've just purchased an intel 9700k with the cooler master 212 black edition CPU cooler as a holiday present/ upgrade
so I wanted to see about upgrading my graphics card to like a 2070S or 2080S, if I cant get a hold on any of the 3000's series.
If they restock, does any good predictions of when they will or when the 2000's prices drop?

yeah i see how that 2080 was trash, found something "better"; reviews say coil whining is usually an issue, not a big one at that

if its "worth it" for me, as an impatient person, then let me know
otherwise ill just wait lol

nvidia last gen prices aren't known to consistently drop in price when the new generation comes out. Believe me, I would have been very happy to recommend GTX 1060 6GB cards at around $150 if they ever had reached that point, but no the 1650 super simply took its place on the market and the stock went down so the prices went up.

TLDR don't wait for 20 series prices to drop, they probably won't

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I need?

Sign up for Newegg's and EVGA's auto notify for 3000 series gpu's. Warranty on that 2080 is 90 days so it's not for me.

How much did you pay for your 9700k?

Forgive me El Guapo. I know that I, Jefe, do not have your superior intellect and education...

intel 9th gen is a dead platform

intel 10th gen is a dead value

get a 5600X and try to look for a second hand 1080 TI if you want to save a bit

you can also wait for a 3070 stock or the 6800XT

and is this refurbished 2080S any good to look in to?

That's a horrendous deal. Just gotta be patient and snipe a 3070 or 3080 somewhere. It's not like a 1060 is a dogshit gpu to run in the interim. Not to the point of paying 20% more for a 10% weaker card that's also refurbished and only comes with a 90 day warranty. Blech.

Not bad, should be enough to last you this console gen reasonably well since it's a decent amount more powerful than the cpu in the XBox Series X and PS5.
