So I am deciding between two boards. One is the Asus ROG STRIX B550-F GAMING (WI-FI) and the is the MSI MAG X570 TOMAHAWK WIFI.

Both have Bluetooth 5.1, both have WIFI 6, both have superb VRMs, both have PCIE gen 4 which doesn't even matter in games right now, both have great inbuilt audio and both overclock amazingly. The Rog is said to beat many X570's and the Tomahawk is said to be one of the best boards around.

I know X570 is technically better but apart from USB C is it worth the £20 more for a board I don't think looks as good 😭.

Current motherboard is the MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon AC

In what does it "beat" the other X570's? Yes in VRM's the ROG B550-F is very good, however, the X570 Tomahawk has one of the best VRM's around, and definitely for the price. There aren't many differences in features, so it comes down to aesthetics or how many PCIe 4.0 NVMe's you're going to use. For normal use with 1 NVMe SSD, just stick with the cheaper of the 2 or the aesthetic/software you like most.

what is your cpu? why isn't your current motherboard enough? the selling point of those b450 boards were that they will support all AM4 cpus

Because smart access memory. I have a Ryzen 5 3600x and a GTX 1070ti. I'll be upgrading my GPU to the RX 6800xt when the new ones come out if available and will upgrade my CPU sometime next year.

Also, for some reason I can't be on a discord call and hear in game music at the same time. It's either no discord call and game music or discord call and game music. Not sure if it's because of the WIFI onboard.

I also have a £120 voucher to spend on any computer component .

Cheaper X570s like anything MSI B550 or X570 apart from the one I stated are really poor for example. I have 1 1tb PCIE 3.0 SSD and 3 Sata ones as Gen 4 doesn't do anything for gaming.

that's probably software/driver related

Yeah but MSI makes the drivers for the boards which means even though it's software the motherboard still has this issue and lots online are the same... It was supposed to be a premium B450 too...

X570 has PCIe 4.0 enabled for all M.2 and PCIe slots. B550 only has PCIe 4.0 for the first M.2 and first PCIe 16x slot. As long as you don't need more 4.0 devices to run, X570 won't really give you anything but the small fan, which is a drawback imo. I'd personally go B550.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.

In what way is it a drawback? Why would more premium boards have an interior design in that regard?

With drawback i meant the fan. I think it's better to have a chipset that can be passively cooled than having this small fan. As someone who has a silent system, this smal fan would likely be the loudest part of my whole pc if i had one.
