Crashes and Random Black Screens

Hey Guys,

 

I recently have the Problem that almost every Game is crashing and I'm stumped. I have no Idea what the Problem is.
So starting up a Game is no Problem and in most cases I can Play the Game for atleast 10-20 minutes, but after that Games crash or I get a Black Screen for a sec and the Game Closes itself. (PC is fine, doesn't crash)

I looked in Task-Manager and it seems like, if my GPU gets a heavier load, It spikes to 100% the Game crashes and then it continues normally.

If you have any Idea, I would appreciate it.

 

Here are my Specs:

CPU	1 x INTEL® Core™ i7-5820K Six-Core 3.30 GHz 15MB
RAM	1 x 32GB DDR4/2666MHz Quad Channel Memory
GPU	1 x MSI GeForce RTX 2070 GAMING Z 8G 8 GB
Motherboard	1 x ASRock X99 Extreme 4
Powersup	1 x 700W be quiet! Pure Power L8 700W 80+ Bronze

Have you checked thermals or done any troubleshooting at this point?

Updated drivers? Reseat video card?

If you have done the basics, create a log file for us with hwinfo?

How to create a log:
Open HWiNFO and in the bottom right there is an icon that looks like a spreadsheet with a green plus on it.
Click that button to start logging, the green plus will switch to a red X to let you know its saving data. 
It will also ask you for a file name and where to save it. I save them to my desktop, name it whatever you want.
Let it run for a few moments or until the machine locks up, resets, or does whatever its not supposed to do,
Then click the spreadsheet again so the red X turns back to a green +.
You now have a log file.

 

How to view the log file:
You can view the log using the GenericLogViewer addon here https://www.hwinfo.com/add-ons/
Download, extract, run GenericLogViewer.exe, click the open file button in the top right and point it to the log file you made above.
Use the dropdown in the upper right to choose which category to view

I already did a Full Reinstall of Windows, Changed the PCI Slot of the Graphics Card, Reslotted the RAM, Checked the Cabels.
One constant I had was if I started MSI Afterburner and tried to Overclock or Scan with the OC Scanner, I always get "OC Scan failed with code 3"

I'm not home right now but will share the Log File today when I get Home.

You might also use furmark's CPU and GPU burn in tests to see if you can trigger it by stressing the CPU or GPU individually. 

If you try that, log it while you are doing it. Might come in handy.

So I did the Log while doing the Benchmark "Time Spy" and another Log where the MSI Afterburner OC error code happend.

So, you have a couple of temps that are high.

Auxiliary and AUXTIN3. See the charts below.

You can see in the second chart, its hitting 125°c

This happens in both logs.

 

 

 

 

Below is a pic of your mobo, with the system running, carefully touch the two heatsinks that i have marked with red box's.

Are either of them hot? 
Nicely warm like a pancake is ok, hot like toast that just popped up is to hot. haha

Those temps are the issue. (in my opinion)

Its just a matter of figuring out what is actually getting hot.

Any chance you have one of those infrared thermal guns? 

I think this issue is a matter of finding whats getting hot and fixing whats causing it.
