Currently I'm running a i5-3570k and a 1660 super (both OC'd) and a 600w PSU. I'm looking to make an upgrade but I'm not sure if I should upgrade my CPU to a Intel Core i7-3770K and not have to worry about changing my cpu, mobo, and ram or if I should switch to a ryzen system (probably like a ryzen 3 3100) and have to change most of the system. which would give me the better performance for cheaper?

i mean, i could spend $300-$400 if i needed too. i have a 165hz monitor and i only really play like overwatch and minecraft. right now i’m trying to saturate and have a constant 165hz and i was wondering if the extra 4 threads the i7 upgrade would help with that. i could upgrade but i don’t really want to spend more money than i need too

depends on how much a 3770k used is, (probably wouldn't pay over 100usd)  but past a certain point, i've seen the r5 2600 for as low as 100usd, mobo ram/cpu combo defintely sneaks in under 400usd.
