Does mouse weight really matter?

Typically not. Mouse weight will only matter for eSport level gamers where they move the mouse a lot or if you are from r/mousereview.

That said, if your preference is a lighter mouse, then by all means go for it.

It's about preference.

Many people swear that the lighter the mouse is the better...

For example I prefer heavier mouses, it varies from person to person.

Honestly, you can get used to anything and then you will swear that that's the best thing and will have a hard time switching you something else until you get used to it as well... then it will become the next best thing, etc...

I play osu!

A game where your skill is directly dependent on being able to move your mouse across the entire screen in one sweep, extremely quickly and with great precision.

Mouse weight matters then. It won't matter for most other games. Some people may even prefer heavier mice.

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

You can check out the old one that gave joy to so many across the land here

if you are playing minecraft, no. the level of performance (for a mouse) minecraft requires for PvP is so much lower compared to a regular fps game that it really doesn't matter that much.

but if you want a light one, go for it. I prefer something in the 85-110g range.

Maybe?  Subjective to the person?  Also perhaps if someone has really sensitive wrists or problems with their hands/wrists.  I'd argue shape, size and grip style would matter more than weight.

This very much. Get what you think you‘ll like and he’ll mayve even what you think looks better - you will get used to it and prefer it over a differently weighted mouse/other switches.

As long as it‘s a quality product there’s nothing wrong with preferring heavy mice over lighter ones or MX switches over Kalih‘s for example. Unfortunately people get shamed because of their choices a lot and for some reason people on the Internet can‘t have someone else be happy and content with what they have when there‘s an alternative out there that they personally prefer.

I prefer heavier mice as well (100-120g) and if you gave shroud a heavy mouse and let him get used to it - it won‘t make a difference (no idea what mouse he uses actually lol, so maybe he‘s using a mouse on the heavier side of the spectrum) Different strokes for different folks.
