Thermal paste for GPU die

Hey frens. I’m about to put a Kraken G12 on my 2080. Was wondering, do I need to buy some real fancy goop like Arctic Silver or will some regular old coolermaster/deepcool stuff be fine? Thanks

if you go so far to mod the cooler, why shouldnt you get better stuff? but between the best paste and some cheap reliable paste the difference is at most 3-4C, so not really worth going to the extreme side of things either like the conductive Arctic Silver.

as long as its not electrically conductive it does not matter

I used AS5 for years, its good paste if you know how to apply it. I would still be using it but ran out.. Right now I am running TF8 and its pretty good.

as5 is non conductive and you can apply it like an other paste. gpu's are direct die. so, you should spread the paste and not just squish a bead of paste.

I’ve never tried MX4.. maybe next time. The ting with AS5 is if you put more than the optimal amount on it acts like an insulator. I’m sure every paste does, but I have a feeling many people hate AS5 because they put too much on.

Na its because as5 has a 200 hour cure time under any load.
