I've had my Antec HCG 620m for a little over 5 years now and overtime, it has become the single most loudest thing in my PC. It's not criminally loud or anything, but i think the fan may be wearing out a bit? I'm also the type of person to leave my computer running at all times, so I don't know how much wear and tear it's been through. Would a possible replacement be advised, like the RM650x/750x for the foreeable future? as I'm slowly replacing most of the parts in my PC anyway to make room for the 5900x and 3070

A rule of thumb by me would be to replace the PSU when it is outside of the warranty period.

I think the HCG had 5 year warranty, so i've definitely passed it at this point. Would you happen to know how quiet the RM power supplies are?

The RMx series such as the RM750x has a zero RPM fan mode where the fan does not turn on until wattage output of the power supply reaches 300W. The chart is from the user manual.

I generally build a machine, and use it for 5 or 6 years and build a new one. Every time I build a new one I have a tendency to buy a new PSU. Like yours my PSU in my Plex server which is running 7 year old hardware is going and some times gets loud. My solution is to deal with it till it dies. Its 7 year old hardware and if it gets fried, Im not going to be too broken up about it.

That all being said, you're talking very new hardware. So it would probably be advisable to look in to a new PSU. Id check out the pinned thread in the PSU forum and look at getting one of the better tier PSU's.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.
