When Razer makes a thing = revolution.

When Asus/HP/Dell/any companie that makes laptops makes a thing = meh, okay.

It's a revolution for Razer, because, let's face it, in terms of performance their hardware usually sucks, but they sure have the looks to sell them.

Since you can render games at 1600x900 and upscale perfectly(no interpolation) to 3200x1800, I don't see this as a huge issue..

The ppi will make everything a lot sharper in day-to-day uses, which is arguably more important than just gaming performance at native res (yeah, yeah, it's a gaming laptop; but lets face it, you use your computer for a lot of stuff besides gaming)..

i7 not perfectly stable at 4.4.. #firstworldproblems

yes, but it makes it useless as a laptop because it isnt that gaming laptop's have 10hours+ batterylife, adding a little less than double the pixels to power, batterylife goes from maybe 1.30 hours to 40 minutes while gaming

We'll just have to wait and see what the reviews show.

Anywhoo, the vast majority of your serious gaming will be done while plugged in, so unplugged gaming is a bit of a non-issue.. Nvidia did add a feature they call "Batteryboost", which will adjust the power consumption of the whole laptop while still maintaining a target framerate. Along with Nvidia's and Intel's other technologies that improve efficiency, the battery life should be more more than adequate for real use.. As for the screen, four times (yes, four times) as many pixels will increase the power consumption of the display, but the Samsung Ativ Book 9 with a 3200x1800 screen actually got marginally better battery life (slightly larger battery, though) than the previous generation Samsung Series 9 that had a 1600x900 screen.

It's $3,300 for the 256GB model in Australia. The old blade 14" was $2,400.

I would be jealous, since I own the original blade, but that price is just too damn high.

It looks pretty sweet to me.  My only wish is that it could upgrade to 16 or 32GB (because I'd also use it for work and running VMs).  Is the RAM soldered to the mobo and is that why it can't go beyond 8GB?

I understand that they use M.2 SSDs, but I kindof wish it used a more common mSATA SSD instead of M.2 form factor.  Less M.2 options exist above 128 or 256 GB.   That will change though in the future, so no big deal.   I'm guessing that this blade probably has two M.2 slots for it to be configurable up to 512GB max.

*I just learned that MSI also has a new GS70 with an 870m.  It is a more sedated 1920x1080.  I don't know what type of panel it has though.  But it looks good to me.  Would be perfect as a workstation (and for gaming afterhours)... 16GB and tons of room for expansion:  3 x mSATA plus a 2.5" drive.

I don't like the "gaming" badges on the lid, but it's not crazy immature looking.
