Unless you need the VRAM or raytracing performance, the 6900XT is supposed to deliver similar performance to the 3090 for $1000 instead of $1500. Yeah depending on what the reviews say I might get it the 6900XT instead & aren’t the timings different?

Oh yeah you're right, but 18 vs 16 isn't worth the $200 extra you're paying for it in your current list.

Eh, 850W is on the line. The video I think you're referencing had 2 3090s in SLI. In their testing the 3090 rarely went over 400W.

I kinda want the Asus Thor power supply but I think there’s only 850 & 1200 w I think 1200 is way too much

Here's the chart from their review at 11:16. You can see it barely goes over 400W.

I mean nvidia recommend 750w power supply so I reckon 850w might be fine,

So just gaming ? No video editing/rendering etc ? If not then a 5950X is a waste of money. You would be better going with a 5800X. Even the 5600X would be fine for gaming.

 

The RTX 3090 is also a waste of cash. For 1440p gaming the 3070/3080 would be fine, or wait for the 6800/XT.

It won’t be just gaming, It might be video rendering in the future. Jus tryna future proof with the 5950x

 

& if I want high fps for an 21:9 1440p monitor do you think 3080 is good enough?

You would need to make sure that the software can make use of that many cores. So maybe look at somewhere like Puget Systems as they have good info on hardware requirements for different software.

A 3080 would be fine, and you also have the upcoming 6800/XT from AMD.
