Mobile hotspot speed up?

So I'm super poor (recent college graduate) and can't afford my own modem/router because my rent eats up 85% of my paycheck each month.  Therefore, I have to use a mobile hotspot to do anything productive online.  If I have to download anything, it takes forever and has the bad habit of pausing mid-download if the file is too large.  Is there any way to speed up the download process when I'm using my mobile hotspot?  I have an iPhone 11 and my laptop is an ASUS VivoBook S 15.6” Full HD Laptop, Intel i7-7500U 2.7GHz, 8GB RAM, 128GB SSD + 1TB HDD, Windows 10 that I bought in 2017.

Cant you share internet via usb instead? That would probably help.

Purely depends on the signal strength and whether the phone mast in your area is congested. Put your phone in different locations in your house and test, thats my best advise. Not really much you can do as other than doing those few things its out of your control.

 

Potentially check what signal is like from other networks in your area and move networks would be the last option.
