Rtx 3070 pcie

For my dream build, I'm going to use a corsair rm850x (white edition) and for the gpu I'mma use the 3070. How many pcie cables will I need for the 3070?

The Founders Edition card only required one 8-pin, but aftermarket cards might differ; some might need 8+6 pins, some might need 8+8, some might need only a single 8-pin just like the FE - you'll have to check before purchasing.

850W sounds quite excessive for a 3070 build though. What other components do you plan on using?

Well it depends if you want FE edition of 3070 or AIB.

FE edition comes with 8 pin -> 12 pin adapter (so you need only 1x8pin cable), other manufactures cards could have 8 pin + 6 pin who knows.

So... is it a 3070 or a 3080?

Either way you don't really need 850W, but it's your call in the end.

The FE looks good, but we haven't got reviews of custom cards so I can't really tell you whether you should wait/look for any specific AIB models or just go with the FE.

If the 3080 and 3090 supply situation is the same with the 3070 though, I think your best bet is just picking up whatever model you can find available.

Thanks for your help and I mean 3070 btw does the Corsair RM 850x have just a 6 pin pcie cable or do all the cables have an 8 pin

The RM850x (I'm assuming it's the same with the white version) comes with three PCIe cables, with each cable having two 8-pins on it, so therefore you've got six 8-pins in total for PCIe power.

Keep in mind that that doesn't mean you can't plug them into 6-pin PCIe connectors, since the 8-pin can be split into a 6+2, as you can see in this picture:
