10gbit NIC for a "windows / proxmox" enviroment

RasmusDC

i´m running 10Gbe in the house, with 4 normal copper ports RJ45, and 12 SFP+ ports in a Unifi XG16 switch, now currently i have 2 ASUS networking cards, one with normal Cat 6e running to it, and the other the server in the rack, with a SFP+ DAC cable, now this is all fine.

however i can se that there are a LARGE used marked for SFP+ networking cards of the 10GBE type..

is there anything that is a good buy? heard Chelsio is the way to go, but i want cards, that can both run with a Windows driver, but also will work in a proxmox enviroment.

right now i am in the need for a 10Gbe solution for a VM server running Freenas in a Proxmox enviroment, so the dual 1Gbit is just not cutting it, since i have disk arrays that support my full 10Gbe bandwith.

I can't commend for Proxmox but I have used Chelsios foin both Windows and Freenas successfully.

I'll see if I can find the exact model I used.

Edit: can't find a picture, will updated when I'm home.

What I can tell you though is, I've also tried a Fujitsu Emulex OCe14102 and that was a complete b#tch. Kinda worked in Freenas but not really in windows.

It will work, Proxmox is just a stripped debian distro with packets pre-installed.

yeah found one on Ebay.de on the way had to put the ASUS sfp+ card in... since to be honest when you have run 10gbit then 1gbit just don´t cut it anymore.
