makes more sense since if you play under 4k, rtx 3090 comes down to rtx 3080 level of performance.

I don't have one, but based on benchmarks and videos, this can run 8k ultra nightmare settings at 60hz only dipping down a little bit. You should be perfectly fine for 4k 144hz. :) It really comes down to what you want though, you could probably go 1440p and 240hz too which would be good.

what do you recommend should i play at 1440p ultra or 4k ultra

4k ultra as i said. if you want to play 1440p rtx 3080 performs same as the 3090. 3090 is only around 10% faster than 3080 at 4k. at 1440p around 0-1% faster

i posted a thread the other day and they were like you need SLI 3090 if you want to play at 4k ultra nightmare

The sensible thing to do is just go 1440p 144hz and get a 3080. 4k is totally possible but the cards will rapidly age at that resolution so if you intend to keep the card for 4 or more years 1440p would be a far better investment.

On another note 4k does not make sense on monitors smaller than 27 inches and 1440p is really the sweetspot for 27 inch monitors unless you sit only centimeters away from the screen.

I mean, it might be more like 120 locked in the busiest scenes by my rough estimates, it's hard to say without a card in hand. SLI is a massive waste of money that's unsupported by almost every game on the market

edit: please note that some game engines just aren't optimized for high framerates and will not perform as well as something amazingly optimized like Doom: Eternal

Idk, it was also with the i9 10900k if that makes a difference, im no expert but im sure that you could still play some really demanding games at 4k 144hz, it depends on the game too.

SLI is dead... whoever told you you need SLI, obviously does NOT know what they're talking about. No point in getting a 3090. Its only about 10-15% faster than a 3080 at nearly 100% increase in price... Get yourself a 3080 and you will still be perfectly fine with 4k gaming.

Doom is one of the only games that would be playable at ultra IF you turn of anti aliasing as it does not make sense at that resolution and can easily half your framerates.

Doom is just incredibly well optimized and in no way shape or form should be taken as the norm for all games which is why I recommend a 1440p screen as there you can just run ultra with high fps in all games compared to only a select few.

what do you mean?

Take a look back at lets say the gtx 1080. It was outed as a 4k/60fps high-ultra settings card which it was. But only for a very short time before it became a 4k/60fps medium-high settings card for most games. Now it's just a 4k 60fps medium to medium-low settings card.

The 3080 and 3090 are the very first 4k 144hz cards that can actually reliably do it but will age quicker for those resolutions as they are already running at 100% to achieve that. 1440p gives you plenty of headroom and thus you can use your card longer as it simply has power to spare at that resolution compared to already being at max.

More demanding games over time AT 4K will ruin you a lot faster than choosing 1440p based gameplay with higher FPS and less worry about it getting eaten up in the future...

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

Even an extra. Older games that do do sli now no longer function or no longer function correctly on newer drivers due to nvidia having killed sli and no longer maintaining it from what I've seen on the internet. So it's not just dead but super duper time traveling dead.

Give me right opinion this time and with full explanation(for noob because you are a pro aren't you?)

would 1 3090 be enough for 4k 144hz Ultra Nightmare Settings            or           1440p 144hz Ultra Nightmare

I am not counting on only 1 guy i need at least 2 in the same spot(means that they must agree each other), then i will move forward.

THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOUR PRECIOUS TIME

in games that support sli (all like 7 of them) you can see 90% better scores (like in strange brigade) or about 50% better scores (like in most games that support it) if you are just talking about Doom Eternal, you can get 8k 60, 4k 170, and 1440p 370.The big thing is what games you will be playing? Do you have enough money to pay for 2 3090's and a custom loop? (You dont have to, but the card that has fans facing the other card can have some tempertaure problems)
