Not enough info..
Go into detail about your PREVIOUS experiences....whatever you can think of.
Compared to going into detail about how it is now...

We need more info.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

Turn off/exit other background tasks you do not need (especially CAM) and retry just for curiosity sake in regards to CPU latency changes and background processes.

As per ShrimBrime's post,.. can you list ALL your hardware specs, parts or details?
Possibly answer his basic Q on XMP vs stock Ram clocks...

You are missing out on performance running the memory at default.

We (the community) generally suggest to enable XMP for really decent performance gains.

Also, did you hot swap the OS drive or installed fresh and new?

XMP is the setting in your bios to overclock your ram. Your ram runs at a lower speed than what it’s rated sometimes by default. You have to manually set it to run at the correct speed.
