Lag spikes / Stuttering

I get lag spikes in minecraft and fortnite. my fps will go from above 60 to below 30. it is not a software problem. i reinstalled windows and nothing changed. its not a software problem 

 

i have tried

reinstalling windows
disableing gamebar
resetting bios
got a new gpu

switching to ethernet instead of wifi


my specs are a 

ryzen 7 2700x

gigabyte b450 aorus pro wifi

16gb 2933mhz corsair pro rgb ram

rtx 2060 super (brand new)

500gb adata nvme ssd (boot drive)
1tb hdd
320gb hdd
120gb adata sp580 ssd

Try in this order (sorry if you have already done some of these):

  1. Update BIOS
  2. Update Drivers
  3. I am not sure what Gigabyte uses for Memory tweaking, but there should be a XMP type of profile setter, you may have to Google it. Essentially this makes your memory run at its fullest potential without OC.
  4. Try re-seating your RAM
  5. Try your other two RAM slots ( also make sure your ram is spaced one apart to utilize dual channel)
  6. Try putting those games on your SSD.
    1. The two games you mentioned run best on a SSD. Minecraft for loading and generating textures and parts of the world and Forknife because it NVIDIA Reflex settings/"texture streaming"/RTX/etc.
  7. Monitor your temps and see if you are getting temp spikes that would cause thermal throttling.
