Cloud computing is cheaper than Raspberry Pi home server?

Hello,

I am trying to build a personal server for me like and would like to now going to Cloud computing (Azure, Linode) is cheaper than using my raspberry pi as server?

what raspberry pi and what will the server be used for

well raspberry pi 3 has a flaw it has a sheared bus between usb and lan on top of that usbs are only 2.0 so if cloud is cheap go for it if not buy raspberry pi 4 its much bettr for that purpose

The issue in one way is fixed vs continuing cost.  Rental vs ownership.  It all depends on how long you plan to keep something.   How long will the pi live?  What is its amortized cost?  For a few months or even a year rental wins hands down.  Given enough time though rental is always more expensive.  The question is where do the two lines cross?

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

I'd bet that a properly cooled Pi will live longer than a cloud provider 😉
