Does anyone know of a 1080p Gaming Monitor With Four Inputs?

Androidcow1234

Hi,

I've spent hours looking for a 1080p gaming monitor (high refresh rate, low response time, etc.) that has four modern inputs (why are companies still including vga on their monitors) and my search has come up mostly empty. My desk is small so I'm also trying to get one under 27 inches.

Am I just terrible at searching or is what I'm looking for really that uncommon?

The only monitor I have found that meets my needs is: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B088VMY23M/?coliid=I3TBBW74JI2Z03&colid=2APQVIRM1METU&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it

The issue is, since this monitor is so cheap I'm worried it's going to be a monitor that will die in a year or two, and I'm looking for something that will hold up to lots of use.

TLDR:

  • I need help finding a monitor that is:
  • 1080p (preferable under 27 inches)
  • Uses HDMI or Display port and has four inputs
  • Has low response time and high refresh rate

Have you considered a KVM rather than trying to get a monitor with a billion inputs? They can work quite well, and depending on what you need them for, don't even have to be very expensive.

Personally, as an example, I got a 4-port HDMI+USB KVM for about 100 CAD on Amazon for my non-gaming systems, which has allowed me to hook up 5 systems to 1 monitor (DP for use as a secondary display for my main rig, and the HDMI KVM is hooked up to 4 other PCs for when I am working and using my laptop, need to do some work on my server or LAN rig, etc)

Main Rig: R9 5950X @ PBO, RTX 3090, 64 GB DDR4 3666, InWin 101, Full Hardline Watercooling

Server: R7 1700X @ 4.0 GHz, GTX 1080 Ti, 32GB DDR4 3000, Cooler Master NR200P, Full Soft Watercooling

LAN Rig: R5 3600X @ PBO, RTX 2070, 32 GB DDR4 3200, Dan Case A4-SFV V4, 120mm AIO for the CPU

HTPC: i7-7700K @ 4.6 GHz, GTX 1050 Ti, 16 GB DDR4 3200, AliExpress K39, IS-47K Cooler

Router: R3 2200G @ stock, 4GB DDR4 2400, what are cases, stock cooler

I don't have a problem...

Could probably get away with just an HDMI switch (not splitter) so long as it's new enough and still supports the newer HDMI standard.  Guess it would also depend on the monitor not being too picky.  Ex. I bought this for my TV...I don't have an issue getting any console, computer, etc. to work with it (including RaspPi).  https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B088CV2FH7/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Chances of finding an actual monitor (read, not TV) with 4 modern inputs (whether HDMI, DP, or mix) is probably fairly low.  You'll likely need a display switch (5 to 1, etc.) or KVM to handle it, as @tarfeef101 said.

Only monitors I've found with that many inputs are specialty monitors which will likely cost more than you want to pay.  Ex.: https://www.newegg.com/dark-gray-benq-esports-xl2546k-24-5/p/N82E16824014775

Then again, if you go to 1440p and 4K, you get a few more options, like this: https://www.newegg.com/p/pl?Submit=Property&Subcategory=20&N=100160979 600029506 600029507 600050982 600050983 600418209 601305587 600557170&IsNodeId=1&IsPowerSearch=1

To add my example, I use this: https://www.amazon.ca/PW-SH0401B-Switch-Support-Compatible-Windows/dp/B082FVBTGD

I haven't tested freesync, potential input latency (though anecdotally I've not noticed any), etc. But it works for my use case.

I have also used HDMI switches back in the day (like 10+ years) when VRR wasn't a thing, and had great success even in competitive shooters, so latency wasn't a problem. But the complexity of the HDMI protocol was far lower, that was when the Xbox 360 was new. I'm sure there are equivalent new products though.
