I was working on a school project when out of the blue my screen goes black, I restart my computer and notice my gpu fan isnt starting, I have a mini 1080 with one fan so it overheats without that fan pretty quickly. I try again after a hour and still no video output, I try reconnecting all the cables, switching the pcie slot it was on and even just strapping a fan onto it. But none of these solutions work, is their a 1 out of a million chance that my gpu is still working? If their is can I fix this?

At this point it’s hard to know if it’s hardware or software.  Hardware is very possible though.  Hardware Causes of fail during use most often include memory, PSU, and GPU.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

I have no information as to what failed. Only that something did.  I don’t know what sort of warranty you have.

Same thing happened to me, but it still works, it just loses power in the middle of when I am using it, when I pulled it out, I noticed that some of the gold contacts on the the small part of the Card is fading, I tried using an eraser for it, but it only removed the dark marks around it, is there any way for me to fix this?

You need to try the card in another system to verify if it is the card or another problem.
