I7 920 cooler.... HELP

So I have an i7 920 processor but I don't have a cooler for it.... What would you guys recommend to cool this processor.... Please no water cooling because I have no idea how to install it lol

920's do get a bit toasty. A hyper 212 is a good option, but simple water cooling isn't any more advanced that air cooling. A corsair h60 is just as simple to install as a hyper 212 just fyi. I run a corsair h50 on mine and it does pretty good . But the hyper 212 is a good budget idea, just don't expect 4 GHz on it

H60/H50 are terrible, thin rads and weak pumps. Any similarly priced air cooler will outperform it.

I am not advising one, just saying they aren't any harder to install. I would only go H100i or CM's 220 whatever its called, but those are 100+. The good part about water tho, it gets all of the heat out of the computer, so no CPU heat warms up any other components which is nice.

Depends what water cooling you get, and what quality of chip you have. I got really lucky and a beast of a chip. I do 3.8 GHz on less than stock votls

I also got a good overclocking chip. Just over stock voltage for 4Ghz 24/7 on a Noctua NH-U12P SE2 air cooler. It is silicone lottery, but the 920s/930s were generally a great overclocking chip.

1366 makes abit of heat so i would go with the NH -d14

I had a 212 EVO on my 920, and was able to get to 3.8Ghz and be fine temp's wise, I never left mid-70's under full load. After that, I was limited by my motherboard not wanting to take more voltage.

Evo120 is a good cost conscious option, also you could see if you can pick up a cheap Thermalright true second hand which I used to use on two of my 920's. Overclocking you could get 3.8 maybe 4.0 depending on silicon lottery and stepping of the chip. Beast chip, still holds it's own in todays cpu market today.
